The first session of the university’s Campus Master Plan meeting was held today in Plemmons Student Union. A new, 10-year plan is being developed to address campus growth and the academic mission of the university.

A new national poll shows that Sen. Barack Obama widen his lead over Sen. John McCain for the race to become to 44th president, according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation Poll released Monday.

$700 million bailout plan fails

The stock market took a downward spiral after news of the House of Representatives failed to pass the $700 billion bailout proposal intended to stabilize the American economic crisis.
The House voted 228 to 205 defeating the proposal with fewer Republican votes than expected. The 205 representatives consisted of 95 Democrats and 133 Republicans.

Blood drive breaks record

Students at Appalachian State University successfully held the largest student blood drive in the state. After setting a goal of 1000 pints of donated blood, the American Red Cross collected a total of 1060 pints during Thursday’s event.
